Pink arrived at a ball for the John Wayne Cancer Institute on April 11th looking absolutely gorgeous in a classy black dress. Unfortunately, the internet being what it is, she received several nasty comments about her body after the photos released. Regardless of how bat shit crazy these criticisms were, I would have simply cried and limited my constant junk food consumption to a very responsible “whenever the fuck I want it” before going about my normal routine. But Pink, being the outspoken goddess that she is, released a statement very politely letting everyone know that they can shove it up their ass.
“I can see that some of you are concerned about me from your comments about my weight. You’re referring to the pictures of me from last night’s cancer benefit that I attended to support my [dear] friend Dr. Maggie DiNome. She was given the Duke Award for her tireless efforts and stellar contributions to the eradication of cancer. But unfortunately, my weight seems much more important to some of you. While I admit that the dress didn’t photograph as well as it did in my kitchen, I will also admit that I felt very pretty. In fact, I feel beautiful. So, my good and concerned peoples, please don’t worry about [me]. I’m not worried about me. And I’m not worried about you either 🙂 … I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off. Thanks for your concern. Love, cheesecake.”
This, my friends, is the kind of woman we need to look up to. She is comfortable with her body and won’t let anyone else dictate her self worth. Beauty isn’t measured by your waistline, it is measured by your compassion and strength of character. So let’s take a page from Pink’s book and focus on what is really important. Cheesecake. 😉
